Champions: August 12th - 14th hosted by Kevin Jackson -
Head Wrestling Coach at Iowa State, Olympic Champion, Kevin is considered one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers in U.S. history, winning a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and claiming World Championship gold medals in both 1991 and 1995. Jackson is one of only five U.S. wrestlers to claim three career World-level titles. This is only a very small list of his accomplishments. Kevin has coached and trained some of the best wrestlers in the nation, and we are extremely excited he is coming here to share some of his knowledge.

CONGRATULATIONS STATE FINAL QUALIFIERS
The following wrestlers qualified for the State Finals, to be held February 26-27 in Austin:
Anna and Jordan McAleavey have a sibling rivalry, but the Cy Creek High wrestlers will be encouraging each other to succeed at the UIL State Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday in Austin.
The McAleaveys are two of the 26 area wrestlers to qualify for state. Six other wrestlers will go the tournament as alternates.
Anna McAleavey will take a 26-1 record into the state tournament; the sophomore won the district championship earlier this month at 128 pounds.
The Langham Creek High School boys and Cypress Ridge High School girls wrestling teams won their respective District 21 meets, held Friday and Saturday at the Berry Center.
Langham Creek won the boys meet with 256.5 points, followed by Cy-Fair (223.0), Cy Woods (222.0), Cy Creek (181.5), Cy Ridge (159.5), Cy Ranch (95.5), Jersey Village (92.5), Cy Lakes (82.0), Cy Springs (63.0) and Cy Falls (43.0).
Cy Ridge won the girls meet with 104.0 points, followed by Langham Creek (101.0), Cy Creek (98.0), Cy Falls (59.0), Cy Springs (58.0), Jersey Village (43.0), Cy Lakes (40.0), Cy-Fair (36.0), Cy Woods (21.0) and Cy Ranch.
Originally, I had planned to make it mandatory for everyone to be at practice. However, because there are only three days and we may go over to Ridge one of those days, I have changed my position slightly. I have asked everyone to attend if they can. They would benefit from the extra repetitions and it helps prepare those that are going to Allen. If they have another sport, family situation, doctor appointment, or simply need to go to tutorials they are excused.
There will be a bus to transport the kids from Creek to Ridge on Thursday.
I will keep you updated throughout the week. Keep Clay Moates in your prayers he goes in for surgery tomorrow on his knee. We may also ask to borrow coolers for the trip to regionals so we can keep food safely
