A lot of people thought McKinney Boyd would win the state title. Did you ever doubt your team's chances?
Not at all. We kind of liked being the underdog and having something to prove. I don't think we felt any pressure at state, so that was great. And winning it was just amazing.
You are part of an athletic family. (Sister Kara was Diver of the Year in 2007 and sister Kassidy in 2010). How did you decide to stick with soccer?
I played everything. We all tried a lot of sports and ended up really focusing on one. I actually really liked softball when I was little, and my softball coach suggested I try soccer. I was fast and had a lot of energy.

All-District 15 soccer teams announced

Class 5A-District 15 boys soccer coaches released the All-District Soccer Team following the conclusion of each team’s season.
The coaches awarded three superlative awards to go with 18 first team and 18 second team selections. Cy-Fair High School senior Taylor Rangel and Cypress Falls High School senior Brian Vazquez were named Co-Offensive MVPs, Cypress Woods High School senior Walter Kromholz was named Defensive MVP and Cypress Falls coach Kevin Napier was named Coach of the Year.

Four girls’ soccer teams wrapped up their District 15-5A competition last week and will begin the Region II-5A playoffs next week.
Cy-Fair High School won the district title, while Cy Creek was the runner-up, Cypress Woods was third place and Langham Creek was fourth.

After coming off its best season in school history, the Cy Creek High girls soccer team is trying to duplicate that success.
Winning the district title and making it to the regional finals in 2009, the Lady Cougars had most of their key players returning for this season.

Clear Lake girls soccer beats Cypress Creek, 2-0

Clear Lake established control in the second half of a 2-0 win Friday over host Cypress Creek.
The two teams had played to a scoreless tie in an opening round game of the I-10 Shootout last weekend.
Friday's first half followed much the same pattern, with neither offense getting many opportunities.
Better passing by Clear Lake and a couple of key injuries to Cy Creek opened the game in the second half.

The Cy Creek High girls soccer team advanced to the third round of the playoffs last season where they lost to eventual Class 5A runner-up, The Woodlands.
The Lady Cougars should once again be the district favorite under the direction of Kathy Fling, now in her 19th season as head coach.

Goalkeeper Michelle Kloss stopped all four shots she faced to help the Cypress Creek Cougars take a shootout victory over the Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs in Thursday's opening-day game of The Woodlands girls soccer tournament.
The teams played to a 2-2 tie in regulation.
Rachel Swerdon and Lauren White scored in the shootout for Cy-Creek.
“We worked on (the shootout) in practice,” Cypress Creek coach Kathy Fling said. “I figured it might be a really close game. Michelle is such an awesome goalkeeper.”
