The Varsity Lady Cougars finished their regular season on Friday, finishing second place overall and earning their entry into the Region II Championships. Leading the Lady Cougars was District Champion, Leslie Schilsky, who ran her season best time of 11:45. Following Leslie were Haley Deakins in 9th, Cody Ford in 11th, Krea Lee in 15th, Kelly Robinson in 17th, Ariel Barnett in 25th, and Sara Butcher in 27th. Schilsky and Deakins qualified for the All-District First Team and Ford and Lee made the All-District Second Team! The Region II Championships will take place in Arlington on Saturday, November 7th.
The JV Cougars capped off an outstanding season with a 4th place overall finish. Kelsey McBride ran an outstanding time of 14:10 and earned herself a 5th place medal. The rest of the team wasn't too far behind- Kristin Harris finished in 17th, Jenna Carney finished in 18th, Evan Wood in 20th, Julia Brewer in 25th, Taylor McCants in 27th, and Lesly Carbajal in 41st. We look forward to seeing BIG things from this group next year!
Also deserving recognition are the Open racers, who fall into that category due to a cap on entry numbers. These girls fought the clock ALL season and improved their times more drastically than any other group. Leading the Open racers was Laura Berton, who ran a 14:06 and was the 2nd overall female finisher. Other Open racers included Mallori Anderson, Lindsey Gendron, Aylana and Ravin Huerta, Ellie Kardani, Misha Lalloo, Amy Leder, Deanna Narveson, Daniella Santacruz, and Rachel Shelton. These ladies are the heart of the competition on this team- without them, there would be little or no intrasquad competition, which is essential to the success of a program.
Again, we look forward to watching their progress next season!
