Coach McCaig is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a minor in Social Studies. Coach McCaig has been coaching for 24 years. He will serve as Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Cougars during the upcoming season.
Previous coaching stops for Coach McCaig include Bellaire High School and Catholic High School in Louisiana. His stops in Texas include Houston Memorial High School, Langham Creek High School, Giddings High School and Stratford High School. This will be Coach McCaig's 13th year as a Head Coach and his 8th year as Head Coach for the Cypress Creek Cougars. During his tenure as Head Coach for Cypress Creek, the Cougars have shown steady improvement. The Cougars have gone from 2 - 8 in 2002 to 4 - 6 in 2003 and 6 - 4 in 2004, a trip to the playoffs in 2005, 8 - 2 in 2008, 9-2 in 2009 and 9-3 in 2010. Highlighting Coach McCaig's professional career was a trip to the state semifinals in 1998 while serving as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Giddings High School.

Coach Jennifer Alexander is a graduate of Howard Payne University with a B.A. in English Language Arts and Reading and a minor in Exercise and Sport Science. Coach Alexander is in her sixth year of teaching and coaching and her second year as Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and third year at Cypress Creek.
Prior to coming to Cypress Creek, Coach Alexander played shooting guard for the HPU Women’s Basketball Team. Upon graduation, she spent her first two years at Bastrop High School as the freshman girls’ basketball coach and varsity assistant softball coach. Her next stop was at Madison High School (San Antonio) where she was the freshman girls’ basketball coach and assistant softball coach for one year.

Coach Chris Beech is the freshmen boys’ head football coach. In addition he will be an assistant boys’ track and field coach in the spring. Coach Beech teaches economics and this will be his 4th year at Cypress Creek, and 17th year in education. Chris grew up in Toronto, Canada and graduated from Upper Canada College. He received a B.A. degree in Economics from York University and has also earned Master of Education degrees from East Tennessee State University (physical education) and Louisiana Tech University (secondary social studies). Chris and his wife Jenni have two daughters – Shelby who is 10 years old and Cheyanne who is 4 years old.
Jeff started swimming year round at age 5 and swam competitively until 20. Jeff graduated from Tokay High School in Lodi California where he was a three sport Varsity Letterman for 3 years in Water Polo, Wrestling and Swimming. He earned All-American status his senior year in water polo as well as League M.V.P. and 1st Team All-Section. Jeff graduated from Modesto Junior College with his A.A. At Modesto, Jeff earned Water Polo and Swimming All-American honors in both years of attendance. He is one of two 4 time All-Americans in school history allowing Jeff to be enshrined in the Modesto Junior College Athletic Hall of Fame. Jeff graduated from California State University Stanislaus with a B.S. in Geography.
Jeff started coaching after his stint in Modesto, returning to his alma mata coaching J.V. Water Polo and Swimming winning titles in four straight years. He was named the Girls Head Coach from Water Polo and Swimming, where he turned out several All-Americans. Jeff then took some time off from coaching to finish his degree. He returned to coaching as an assistant at the University of Pacific in Stockton California. Jeff coached as an assistant for both Men’s and Women’s teams and was the local water polo club developmental coach. Jeff then returned to Tokay High School as the Head Water Polo and Swimming Coach and taught Life Skills for the Special Education Department.
Jeff moved to Texas in 2007 to become the Cy Creek High School Swimming and Water Polo Coach. Jeff was the Regional Co-coach of the Year for boys in water polo and the District Coach of the Year for girls and Co-Coach of the Year for boys in swimming in 2007-08.
Jeff’s parents Charles and Elaine live in Arizona and are both retired teachers. Jeff’s younger brother, Jess and wife, Jennifer have two beautiful girls Harley (6) and Riley (4).

Coach Tami Combs attended Deer Park HS and is a graduate of University of Louisiana (Rajun Cajuns) with a B.A. in General Studies and a minor in English/Reading. Coach Combs has been coaching and teaching for 6 years at Cy Woods high school. This will be her 1st year as a Cougar and also her first year as a head volleyball coach.
Prior to teaching, Coach Combs played college volleyball for Lee College as a freshmen and sophomore. There she competed at nationals both years and had a finishing record of 90-5. Coach Comb’s team was 2nd in the nation and she was ranked #1 setter in Texas and #2 setter in the nation. She also took and still has all of the setting records at Lee College. After completing her junior college experience, she continued on at the University of Louisiana. As a Rajun Cajun, she geared her academics towards becoming a classroom teacher and coach. Upon graduation, she was given the assistant volleyball coaching position at Cy Woods and helped lead them to a state appearance.

Nina Davis comes to us from Mayde Creek High School where she was the coach for 3 years. She has served as head coach for the Barkers Ridge summer team for 2 years. Coach Davis has been swimming since the age of 7 and year-round competitive swimming since the age of 11 for ATEX and SST. Nina swam at Klein Oak High School over the course of her 4 years. Nina earned an engineering degree from Texas A&M, and teaches Geometry in addition to her coaching duties. She has 2 boys, Reid (9) and Charlie (2). Coach Franklin in his 22nd year at Cypress Creek serves as Head Coach for they boys and girls golf teams. He teaches Pre-Calculus for his classroom assignment.
Coach Franklin graduated from Wichita Falls Rider High School and Abilene Christian University.
Coach Franklin has been married to his wonderful wife, Beth, for 19 years, and they have three children, Pierce-15, Perry-11, and Braeleigh-8.
Coach Froman is currently in his 6th year at Cy-Creek. He began as a freshman coach at Creek and now coaches the Varsity defensive tackles and Sophomore Basketball. Hello, my name is Thomas Hensley and I am a teacher/coach at Cypress Creek High School. This is my 4th year at Creek, and my 11th year in education. I have a wonderful wife (Heather) and a sweet little girl (Allie).
I grew up in Corrigan, Texas and graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 1995. I received my B.S. degree in English/Kinesiology from Sam Houston State in 2000. I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Educational Administration.
In addittion to teaching English II, I also coach cross country and track.
Coach Junewick is the JV Volleyball Coach and Freshmen Basketball Coach. She has been teaching physical education at Cypress Creek for the past 25 years.
She graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. where she played both collegiate volleyball & basketball.
Coach Junewick also has a home-based floral studio—Spring Creek Farm!
A native of Pennsylvania, Coach Kerr attended Greenville Senior High School. While attending GHS, Mr. Kerr was active in choir, student council, athletics, and the school newspaper.
Upon graduation, Mr. Kerr attended Bethany College, Bethany, WV where he graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Education and Psychology. While attending Bethany Coach Kerr was given the Kalon Leadership Scholarship and gained acceptance into both the Psychology honorary society (Psi Chi) and the Education honorary society (Kappa Delta Phi). In addition, Mr. Kerr served the campus as a resident assistant and was a member of the B.I.S.O.N.S., earning the B.I.S.O.N. of the year award in 1992. Coach Kerr was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity serving as an officer for two years.
While completing his student teaching assignment, Coach Kerr served as wrestling coach at Buckeye Local Middle School in Rayland, Ohio prior to arriving in Texas. While there, his team went undefeated in both tournament and dual meet competitions garnering the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Championship.
Mr. Kerr arrived at Cypress Creek in 2007 as an Adaptive Behavior instructor and assistant coach in wrestling and track. Under his leadership as assistant wrestling coach in their inaugral season, the Cougars saw four wrestlers reach the district finals and had five athletes qualify for regional competition.
In 2008, Corey was named as the head coach for the Cypress Creek Cougars wrestling team. In the first season the team finished as champions at Brazoswood's "Woodshed Dual Tournament" and also garnered top ten team finishes in the Cypress Fairbanks Invitational Tournament and the Klein Collins Tiger Invitational. The '09 squad crowned eight district champions, qualifying eleven wrestlers for the regional tournament in Allen, Texas. Cypress Creek High School saw it's first Regional Champion, Anna McAleavey, crowned. In addition, two other wrestlers, Courtney Richardson and Zach Goldbold, qualified for the state wrestling meet in Austin ISD's Delco Center.
He is entering his eighteenth year in education, his third at Cypress Creek High School. Previously he worked in Aldine ISD for 15 years, serving as an assistant baseball coach for 11 years. He will serve as the head wrestling coach and varsity assistant in baseball.

Coach Kight has coached for 34 years. Coach Kight has coached in Clear Creek ISD, Spring ISD, and Cy-Fair ISD. He opened Westfield H.S. as the Varsity Boys Basketball coach and spent 6 years at that position. He left coaching for four years, then returned in 1991 as the Varsity Softball coach at Cy-Creek. This is currently his 19th year at Creek. He also coached Freshman Volleyball, and Girls JV Basketball.
Coach Marks, an instructor in Health, is the Defensive Coordinator of the Freshman Football Team and has been at Cypress Creek since 1982.
Coach Marks is a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur, Georgia, and the University of Houston, with a B.S. and a Master's in Education. Coach Marks previously at Katy High School, Mt. Carmel High School, and Memorial Hall High School.
He and his wife Lynda, have been married 38 years and are the proud parents of son Shannon, daughter-in-law Kimberly, grandson Tyler and granddaughter Emily. Coach Marks also loves baseball and serves as the Freshman Coach of the Cougar Baseball Team. It should come as no surprise that he named his dogs "Dugout" and "Slugger"!
I have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University, majoring in Accounting. My experience includes three years as an Accounting Manager for Comet Rice, Inc. in Houston, three years in sales for Tomball Ford, Joe Myers Imports and The Home Depot in Houston, and twenty years as an Associate Member of the Chicago Board of Trade in Chicago. I also lettered in basketball for Rice University and Sam Houston State University.

My name is Shaun McDowell and I teach Web Mastering and Business Computer Information Systems (BCIS). I also coach Varsity Football (Offensive Line) and Track. This is my third year at Cy-Creek. In the 2008 football season, Cy-Creek was 8-2 overall with a 7-0 district record. We were Undefeated 15-5A District Champions, Bi-District Champions, and Area Finalist.
I am a 2002 graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a Minor in European Studies. I am also currently obtaining my Masters Degree in Education Administration from Lamar University.
Prior to going to U of H, I received an appointment and football scholarship to the United States Coast Guard Academy where I was a 3-year letterman. In 1997, I helped lead the Academy to a 9-1 record and received a birth to the NCAA Div III playoffs.

This is Coach O'Dear's second year at Cy-Creek High School. Coach O'Dear is originally from Iowa, and attended Iowa State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in Coaching. He was the assistant varisty coach at Ames High School during his last two years at Iowa State. When arriving in Texas, Coach O'Dear was the assistant varsity coach at MacArthur High School for two years before becoming the head boys coach at George Bush High School. In the second season at Bush Coach O'Dear led the Broncos to the school's first playoff run, and also received District 20 5-A's "Coach of the Year". Coach O'Dear spent four years at George Bush High School before going to Katy Taylor High School for a year in 2005-06. He has spent the last three years as the head soccer coach over at Cy-Falls High School. Coach O'Dear completed his USSF National "C" license, and will be pursuing more soccer education in the future. Coach Amber Steely is the freshman and JV tennis coach. Like so many young tennis players she started by playing NWYTA and played varsity tennis at Cypress Creek all 4 years of high school. She continued playing intramural tennis in college at Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught science and coached tennis at Knox Middle School in Conroe from 1998 – 2000. Coach Ryan Tatum is the JV Girls’ Basketball Coach and an Assistant Girls’ Basketball coach. He is also a Freshman Football Coach. This is Coach Tatum’s third year teaching at Cy-Creek and his second year coaching. Coach Tatum began to feel the drive for coaching while serving as a basketball coach for multiple years in community youth leagues during high school. My name is Ron Thomson. I have been teaching and coaching for the past 28 years. I am a native of the great state of OHIO and yes, I am a "Buckeye" all the way! I graduated and received my B.S. in Education from Cleveland State University and then moved on to "The Ohio State University" where I earned my M.A. in Education in 1981.
My wife Pam and I have been married for 23 glorious years! Pam is a Special Education teacher at Birkes Elementary. Our famly also includes our loyal companion, "Chris", who is a very large and gentle German Shepard which we adopted from the Austin German Sheppard rescue program several years ago.
Before coming to CFISD, Pam and I taught overseas in the International Schools system over a period of ten years. From Budapest to Frankfurt ........then Taipei to Abu Dhabi, we have many fond memories of our travels, adventures
and former students and colleagues.
As a proud Cy-Creek Cougar, I am looking forward to the 2011-2012 school year.

Coach Laura Throckmorton is the Junior Varsity girls’ soccer coach at Cypress Creek High School. Laura came to Cypress Creek from Highland, Utah. She lettered on the Varsity team at Lone Peak High School, played 2 years at Graceland University NAIA, and finished at Utah Valley University NCAA Division I. Coach Throckmorton teaches Biology and holds a Bachelors Degree in Community Health from Utah Valley University. Laura teaches Biology.

Mr. Vacek is in his 29th year in education, teaching American History, World History, Government, Economics, Health and Physical Education. All but 3 years in his career have been in history and is very honored to be in the profession. In addition to his B.S. degree in History, he also holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration. He has taught in five other school districts beginning with the Katy I.S.D. in 1981. Mr. Vacek says he is proud to acknowledge the fact that 14 of his 30 years have been at Cypress Creek High school and all but one year teaching World History. Mr. Vacek is most often addressed as Coach Vacek, as he is the head track coach at Cypress Creek and varsity assistant football coach. Coach Vacek considers it an honor to be in the coaching profession, especially at Cypress Creek.

Coach Ashley Wade is the Freshman volleyball coach and JV softball coach. She graduated in 2003 from Hargrave High School in Huffman, TX where she played varsity volleyball all four years. She was also a multi sport athlete competing in basketball and track as well. She played for Texas Thunder Volleyball club in 2002 and 2003. Coach Wade received a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Illinois at Springfield where she played all four years. After earning her Bachelors degree in Communication in May 2007, Coach Wade continued her education and received a Master's degree in Communication in December 2008. Coach Wade had been a club volleyball coach for the past 8 years and she coached soccer and taught English at Klein High School last year. She is excited to join the cougar staff this year and looks forward to a great season!

Coach White is in his 9th year at Cypress Creek and has been Assistant Tennis Coach for 6 years.
Coach White is a graduate of Nacogdoches High School
and Stephen F Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Physical education and a minor in General Business. He has also
earned and MBA from Tulane University. His classroom assignment
includes; BCIS, Business Ownership and Business Law.
