Even though it was Langham's Senior Night at Lobo Field, the Cy Creek Seniors stole the show.  Most of the nine Creek Seniors had a significant role in the 10-0, 6 inning run rule win.  Zach Williams started on the mound for the Boys in Blue and seemed to have extra motivation after hearing Langham's starting catcher's  favorite memories from his Freshman year.  Williams limited the Lobos to 2 hits and retired the last 13 Langham batters in order to earn the complete game shutout.  Dylan Pugliese got the Cougars on the board in the 2nd inning with his biggest hit of the season, a two run opposite field home run off Aaron Fletcher, who was an All-District performer last year.  The score remained 2-0 until the 6th inning when the Cougars sent 12 batters to the plate and scored 8 runs.  Key hits of the inning were Ryan Zarella's 4th home run of the season to lead off the inning, Camron Baumbach's bases loaded double which scored 3 runs and Drew Santalucia's 2 run single.  Junior, Dallas Stefano stayed hot as he lead the Cougars attack with 2 hits.  It was a special night for the nine Seniors.

Cy Creek's playoffs hopes ended Saturday afternoon as they lost to Cy Falls 6-1 at Cougar Field.  Cy Creek took an early lead in the first after Will Froebel walked, stole second and was brought home on Drew Santalucia's double.  J.P. Miller started on the mound for the Cougars and was dominate through 3 innings only allowing a walk.  Cy Falls' only runs came in the 4th inning as they scored 6 runs on 6 hits.  Christian Rivera came on in relief and shut the Eagles down, but Creek could not rally.  Other Cougars to register hits were Ryan Landry, Rian Hartwell, Trey Smith and Will Froebel.  The Cougars will end their season on Friday night at Langham Creek.

Cy Creek had another tough battle with the defending State Champs Cy Ranch, but lost 3-0 at Mustang Field.  Cy Creek had chances in the first inning as the first two batters safely reached base, but the Cougars could not push across a run.  The Cougars did not have another scoring opportunity until the 7th when Dallas Stefano and Trey Smith lead off with singles, but Cy Ranch's starting pitcher Spencer Sloane was able to work out of the jam for the complete game shutout.  Christian Rivera started for the Cougars and pitched well giving up only 3 runs in 5 innings.  Zach Williams was perfect in the 6th inning to give the Cougars a chance, but the bats were able to complete the needed rally.  The Cougars were lead at the plate by Sami Resendez (2-3), Dallas Stefano (2-3) and Trey Smith (1-3).

The Cy Creek Cougars played their 4th extra inning, District 17-5A game, Friday night at Bobcat Field.  Unfortunately they came out on the wrong side of the tally board for the 3rd time in these games as they lost in gut wrenching fashion, 7-6.  This game played out similar to the last football game between these two schools.   Cy Fair was down to their last strike twice in the 11th inning, but was able to secure the win.  Cy Creek scored 5 runs in the first 3 innings to take a 5-2 lead and knocked out Fair's starting pitcher, Jamie Wall.  Creek missed plenty of opportunities to put the game away as they left 9 runners on base the first 5 innings.  For the game, Creek had 13 LOB and stranded 8 runners in scoring position.  The "Boys in Blue" could never deliver the knockout punch, and as has happened before, the opponent somehow hung around long enough to escape with a win.  Drew Santalucia pitched entire game for the Cougars and seemed to get stronger as the game went on.  Drew only allowed 7 hits and did not walk a batter until the last inning when the last two batters in Fair's lineup walked.  Fair's leadoff batter Johnny Rizer singled on an 0-2 pitch and knocked in the tying run.  The winning run scored a few pitches later on a passed ball.  Fair made the most of their opportunities as they stranded only 7 runners.  Former teammate, Kyle Rousseau was the winning pitcher for Fair.  Ultimately, the difference in this game was defense as Creek committed 4 errors including 3 dropped popup/fly balls which lead to 5 unearned runs.  Cy Creek was lead at the plate by Dallas Stefano (3-5, 2B, HBP, R, 2RBI, SB & 6PO), Will Froebel (3-5, BB, R, SB & 5PO), Ryan Zarella (2-5, 2B, BB, 2RBI) and Phillip Sanchez (2-4, BB, R).  Drew Santalucia also scored the go ahead run in the 11th on a walk and then hustling around to score on a passed ball, stolen base and heads up base running on Dallas Stefano's infield single.

Cy Creek extended their winning streak to 3 games with a 8-4 victory over Cy Lakes on Saturday afternoon.  JP Miller started on the mound for Creek and worked 5 strong innings before running into challenges in the 6th.  Zach Williams, who relieved Miller in the 6th, picked up a save working 2 innings and allowing 1 run.  Cy Creek manufactured a run in the first with a single by Drew Santalucia, walk by Ryan Zarella, pass ball and another PB after a strikeout.  In the 3rd, the Cougars sent 11 men to the plate and scored 6 runs with key hits by Santalucia (2-3, 2B, 3R, 2RBI, BB) and Ryan Zarella (1-3, RBI, BB).  Dallas Stefano appears to have his stroke back as he went 2-3, R, BB, OE & SB.  Trey Smith also had a hit and a RBI for Creek.  With 3 wins this week, the Cougars have moved from 8th to a tie for 3rd in the district 17-5A standings.

The Cougars continued their playoff march in dramatic fashion Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Cy Woods.  The game was similar to many played at Wildcat Field between these 2 teams over the last 6 years.  Drew Santalucia and Cy Wood's Texas Tech bound Casey Meisner were locked in a scoreless duel through 4 innings.  In the first, after a leadoff double and stolen base by Woods' leadoff batter, a great play by Dallas Stefano (1-3) and Ryan Zarella prevented a run.  The Cougars missed chances to score leaving runners in scoring position in each of the first 3 innings.  Cy Woods starting pitcher, Casey Meisner, who has signed with Texas Tech, was dominate early as he had 10 strikeouts after 4 innings.  In the 5th, Trey Smith (1-3, R) lined a single to center after one out.  Taylor Abel reached on an error and Will Froebel (1-3, R, RBI, BB, SB) lined a single to center to score Smith.  Sami Resendez (2-4, RBI, SB) then laid down a perfect bunt single which scored Abel and Froebel also raced home on an error.  Santalucia was dominate after Creek scored as he only allowed a 2 out walk to Woods' SS, Matt Broadbent in the 5th.  Broadbent, who has also signed with Texas Tech, was the District's leading hitter at the beginning of the week.  It was a tremendous effort by "The Boys in Blue" similar to last year's playoff meeting when Logan Muhl and Evan Thomas ended Cy Woods' season.

Christian Rivera's gutsy effort kept Cy Creek's playoff hopes alive.  Rivera battled for 10 innings and allowed Cy Ridge only one unearned run as the Cougars escaped with a 2-1 victory on Senior Night.  Rivera struck out 9 while giving up 6 hits and 2 walks.  Twice, late in the game, Rivera had to work out of tough situations after giving up a leadoff double.  Cy Creek had plenty of opportunities to win the game despite a lack of hits.  5 times they advanced a runner to 3rd without scoring thanks to a season high 11 SB's.  In the 10th, Seniors Sami Resendez doubled and Ryan Zarella delivered the walk off hit to secure the victory.

The Cy Creek Cougars battled another top 17-5A foe valiantly, but the trend of dropping tough games continued against Jersey Village.  Cy Creek took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd.  After a walk by Dallas Stefano and hit by Phillip Sanchez, Taylor Abel delivered a clutch two out single to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.  Jersey Village got a run back in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to a leadoff double and perfect execution of small ball.  Unfortunately Cy Creek missed chances to extend their lead in the 3rd and 4th as they stranded 3 runners in scoring position with two at third.  Jersey Village's pitcher, Kirby Peek seemed to get stronger as the game progressed and began throwing his curveball for strikes with hitters counts.  Creek's inability to execute small ball techniques made it difficult to score runs and was the difference in the game.  In the 5th inning, the top of Jersey Village's order collected 4 straight hits, 3 of which were extra base hits.  They scored 5 runs to knock out Creek's ace Drew Santalucia.  Christian Rivera and JP Miller pitched in relief. Jersey Village's CF Garrett Ellison hit his 3rd HR of the season in the 6th to account for the final runs.  Creek was unable to mount a late rally. The game was much closer than the final score of 8-2 indicated.  In addition to Abel and Sanchez, Dallas Stefano, Sami Resendez and Will Froebel had hits for the Cougars.

Cy Springs was a much better team than the one the Cougars beat 23-0 to open district play.  The Cougars took advantage of a couple of Panther miscues in the 2nd inning to take a 1-0 lead.  The Cougars gave away the lead in the 4th when a two out error allowed a run to score.  Cy Springs took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 5th after the home plate umpire changed his mind twice before deciding a Panther runner had crossed the plate before Creek got the 3rd out  at second base.  Cy Creek finally got going offensively late in the game by scoring 3 runs in the 5th and 2 more in the 6th.  The Boys in Blue were lead at the plate by Will Froebel (3-3, Sac, R, RBI, SB), Dallas Stefano (1-1, SB), Trey Smith (1-3, 2R, RBI, SB), Drew Santalucia (1-3, RBI, SB) and Sami Resendez (1-3).  Zach Williams pitched a complete game and only gave up only 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 7.

It was the battle of strike out pitchers Thursday night at Cougar Field with Langham's Aaron Fletcher facing Creek's Christian Rivera.  Both pitchers pitched all 8 innings, threw over 250 pitches and struck out 26 batters between them and allowed minimal base runners.  Cy Creek scored in the first to take a 1-0 lead on Ryan Zarella's single after Sami Resendez doubled.  Langham took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd on 3 hits and an error which allowed 1 of the runs to score.  The Cougars tied the game in their half of the 3rd when Dylan Pugliese knocked in Rian Hartwell who was pinch running for Ryan Zarella.  Langham went back on top in the 5th only to have the Cougars tie the game in the bottom of the 6th when Philip Sanchez scored after a single, pass ball, steal of 3rd and advanced home on a throwing error.  The Cougars missed a chance to win the game in the 7th when Drew Santalucia was stranded in scoring position after a walk and a stolen base.  Langham scored the winning run in the 8th when Aaron Fletcher, who was 3-4, doubled with one out and his pinch runner scored on an 0-2, two out single by the Lobo's SS.  Rivera had another outstanding outing on the mound for the Cougars as he struck out 11 Lobos.   Unfortunately, Cy Creek's tough luck in close district games continued.

Zach Williams started on the mound for Cy Creek and gave up 4 hits in three plus innings.  Taylor Abel and Sami Resendez also pitched.  Drew Santalucia (3-4, 2B, 2R, 2RBI) and Will Froebel (2-4, R) had multiple hits for the Cougars.

It was another playoff like game which the Cougars battled valiantly for 11 innings, but lost 6-5.  The defending state champion Cy Ranch Mustangs scored in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings to take a 5-0 lead.  Ryan Zarella's first home run of the season in the bottom of the 5th made it 5-3.  Zarella hit another clutch home run in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 5.  Zarella had all 5 of Creek's RBI's.  Creek was able to get the winning run to 3rd the same inning, but stranded Phillip Sanchez .  JP Miller started on the mound for the Cougars and battled for 5 innings.  Christian Rivera relieved Miller in the 6th and pitched great, but took a tough luck loss.  It appeared that Cy Creek won the game in the bottom of the 9th on Will Froebel's hit, but the home plate umpire was out of position and called Matt Waddell out at the plate.  Cy Ranch scored the winning run in the 11th on a sacrifice fly after winning pitcher Bryce Johnson's double.

In the first district contest at Cougar Field, Cy Creek faced Cy Wood's Texas A&M bound pitcher, Ryan Hendrix.  Woods got a HR in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but Creek battled back scoring in the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings to take a 4-1 lead.  Unfortunately Creek missed chances to blow the game open as they left the bases loaded in two of these innings.  Creek knocked Hendrix out of the game in the 5th and things looked well in hand.  JP Miller started for the Cougars and pitched well allowing only 3 hits and a walk through 5 innings.  Miller was relieved in the 6th after allowing a couple of hits and another batter reached on an error.  Woods capitalized on 3 Creek errors in the 6th which lead to 11 runs.  Christian Rivera, who pitched for the first time in 3 weeks, took the loss.  Sami Resendez lead the Cougars at the plate going 2-3 with a walk and scoring a run.  Camron Baumbach had 2 RBI's.
